It is also used not only in the economic plane or to improve the quality of tax control, but in almost all social spheres the life of society.

The existence of an individual number speeds up the processing of any personal data and prevents the repetition of information and errors that the applicant may make. TIN allows you to eliminate confusion when identifying persons with the same surnames, first names, patronymics, addresses of residence. The TIN of organizations also prevents an error when finding organizations with the same name or type of activity.

According to the current legislation, individuals must pay mandatory payments in the form of taxes, report on certain forms, etc. In the tax office, each person is assigned a unique identification number, according to which he is in it as a taxpayer. How to get a TIN for an individual? For the first time, you can get a TIN via the Internet, or by directly contacting the IFTS or MFC.

TIN is the number of identification of taxpayers, which is assigned to them by the relevant authority, and is reflected in the certificate issued to them in their hands.

At present, it is assigned to every citizen, and this is carried out even in early childhood, if children become payers of such mandatory payments.

The initiator of the appropriation can be both the citizens themselves or their representatives, and the tax authorities.

This identification number for an individual consists of twelve digits:

  • The first two reflect the number of the region in which the certificate is issued, the next - the number of the tax authority that issued it.
  • The numbers 5-10 reflect the immediate number of the taxpayer.
  • The remaining two last digits reflect the checksum by which the TIN is checked.

Attention! Since 2017 Registration is carried out in any tax office.

TIN is affixed in all payment documents for which taxes are paid by an individual. By given number in the tax department they keep records, accrue and receive mandatory payments.

Individuals can get information about property taxes, personal income tax, only if they know their TIN.

Despite the fact that the TIN certificate is not available in mandatory list, its copy is often asked to be given by personnel employees of the company.

Important! TIN must have not only citizens of our country, but also foreigners. This obligation has been imposed on them since 2016. Now they will not be able to obtain a patent for work if they do not first register.

What documents are needed for TIN

  • An application (in the form 2-2-Accounting) can be printed from the IFTS website or taken directly from the tax office. If a certificate is issued for a person under the age of 14, then the application is drawn up from one of his parents.

Important! When applying to the IFTS for issuing a TIN, such an application is filled out by the inspector on his own (in most cases), based on the documents submitted.

  • A copy of the taxpayer's passport or other similar document identifying the person. For a minor who is not yet 14 years old, a copy of the birth certificate is submitted.
  • A copy of the applicant's passport - must be presented to the parents of minors when they apply for a TIN.
  • A copy of the certificate of registration at the address of residence - is required for minors who do not have a passport and there is no such mark in the birth certificate.

Where to get a TIN for an individual

It is possible to obtain a TIN in general order in the IFTS locally permanent residence. To do this, you can order a TIN via the Internet, apply by mail, or bring a package of documents to the tax or MFC in person.

When sending documents by mail, copies of documents must first be certified by a notary.

Is it possible to get a TIN at a place of residence

Attention! Since 2017, you can get a TIN at any tax office, but you will be registered at the place of registration. The basis is the federal law No. 243-FZ of July 03, 2017. The amendments were made to the Tax Code of the Russian Federation Art. 83, p. 7. About if you have already received it, read here.

How to get a TIN for an individual

An individual can obtain a TIN in various ways.

How to get a TIN via the Internet

This method makes it possible not to stand in line, and send an application for extradition at any time of the day or night. Currently, there are two ways to issue a TIN using the Internet - on or through the State Services portal.

These options differ in design and procedure, but in practice they provide two opportunities to apply and receive a form:

  • If a citizen does not have a reinforced one, you must register on the site using the address Email(or SNILS) and password. For the Gosulugi portal, it will still be necessary to pass an identity confirmation in the manner prescribed by it. After that in personal account you will need to specify personal data, information about the passport and registration, contacts. The generated application for extradition can be sent to the Federal Tax Service in this way, but it will be possible to receive it only in person with the provision of original documents.
  • If a citizen has an enhanced electronic signature, then it is necessary to prepare an encrypted request using a special program and send it to the Federal Tax Service. The completed form can be received by registered mail or in an electronic PDF file certified by a qualified electronic signature tax service.

Obtaining a TIN at the MFC

Recently, it has become available to issue a TIN through the multifunctional centers (MFC) "My Documents". At the same time, you can contact the institution both personally and through your authorized representative. The process of obtaining the form is included in the “One window” mode, which means that all the necessary procedures can be performed on the spot with one operator.

However, not all multifunctional centers perform this operation upon receipt by an individual identification number but the taxpayer. Check this information with your MFC.

The following documents must be submitted to the MFC:

  • The passport;
  • Registration document (if temporary registration is issued);
  • Form for issuing a document form No. 2-2-Accounting (you can fill out at the MFC or bring a ready-made one with you).

In the case when it is not possible to come to the MFC on your own, a trusted representative can apply there. However, he must have a notarized power of attorney with him, which will indicate the right to draw up and receive documents.

Attention! positive side registration of a TIN through the MFC is that an employee of the center can independently draw up an application for issuing a number, or check the submitted form for errors. Currently, the MFC is the most convenient option for obtaining a taxpayer identification number.

The MFC will inform you about the readiness of the TIN in an SMS message sent to your phone. You will need to get the document here.

Obtaining a TIN at the Federal Tax Service (personal appeal)

To apply for and receive a TIN form through a tax office, you must have two documents:

  • A completed application in the form No. 2-2-Accounting;
  • Passport or other proof of identity.

The application form can be obtained from the tax office, downloaded from the Internet and filled out by hand, or use one of special programs to prepare the document. When filling in manually, all data must be entered without errors, one character in one cell, while using a blue, purple or black pen.

When the Federal Tax Service appears in person, copies of documents do not need to be certified. An employee of the Federal Tax Service upon receipt will check them with the originals and return them.

Attention! In the case when documents are submitted by an authorized person, he must do this with a notarized power of attorney, which must indicate the representation of interests in the tax service. Copies of documents must also be notarized.

After registration, the TIN form can be received personally or by a representative in the Federal Tax Service, or by registered mail.

TIN production time and state duty amount

After everything Required documents transferred to the tax authority, the state agency must comply with the statutory deadlines for issuing a document. Usually, the TIN issuance period is 5 days.. After this period, the tax employee must hand over the certificate or send it by registered mail. The actual time depends on the tax - some IFTS issue the requested document within 20-30 minutes.

Attention! You do not need to pay a state duty for the initial registration and issuance of the TIN form. If the document is reissued to replace the lost one, the payment will be 300 rubles. Some inspections provide the service of urgent restoration of the form, while the state duty is charged in double the amount.

The birth of a person is a joyful event for his parents. Also, such a citizen is already an individual. Thanks to this, he acquires certain rights and obligations both in relation to the state and to the surrounding society. The obligations of a person can be listed for a long time, but it is important to remember that he also has an obligation to tax authorities. And in order for these obligations to be better fulfilled by both an individual and a legal entity, all people are assigned a Taxpayer Identification Number or TIN. This is a special cipher consisting of digital designations and special information that is indicated in the corresponding paper.

Currently, this paper can be easily issued via the Internet, or an individual can receive the finished paper at the place of residence.

How to check the validity of the TIN

Remember that all the information recorded in the document is valid for life and there is no way to change it.

What is TIN

This is a special form of A4 format. It must contain the full name, date and place of birth of the person.

In addition, the paper must have a unique personal number citizen. Remember that for legal entities the document number consists of 10 digital designations, and for individuals it is 12.

Where can I get a TIN?

The issuance of the relevant TIN certificates is carried out by the tax inspectorate at the place of residence of an individual. For organizations by issuing the relevant TIN certificates - at the place of registration of the relevant organization. Types of TIN1. TIN 10 digits. This TIN designed for tax registration of legal entities.

Types of TIN

  1. TIN of a legal entity.
  2. TIN of an individual.
  3. TIN of an individual entrepreneur.
  4. TIN of a foreign legal entity.

TIN decoding

TIN 10 digits

The first 4 digits of the TIN are the code of the division of the Federal Tax Service of Russia (SOUN directory), the next 5 digits of the TIN are unique number taxpayer within this division of the Federal Tax Service, the last digit of the TIN is a control one and serves to verify the correctness of the TIN entry.

TIN 12 digits

The first 4 digits of the TIN are the code of the division of the Federal Tax Service of Russia (SOUN directory), the next 6 digits of the TIN are the unique taxpayer number within this division of the Federal Tax Service, the remaining 2 digits of the TIN are control and serve to verify the correctness of the TIN entry.

Verification algorithm

For everyone who wants to know their personal identification number, there are several ways:

  1. Direct appeal to the branch of the Federal Tax Service at the place of residence (see how to find out the TIN through the Federal Tax Service). You need to know in advance all the necessary documents that you may require.
  2. Contacting the Federal Tax Service through mail services by submitting a written statement.
  3. Checking the TIN of an individual online:
  • through the website of the State Services- https://www.gosuslugi.ru/pgu/fns/findInn;
  • on the site- https://service.nalog.ru/inn.do and https://lk2.service.nalog.ru/lk/.

In order to get all the necessary information on these sites, it is necessary to complete the registration procedure and fill in personal data in the account.

Check sum

Before clarifying the process of calculating the checksum of identification numbers, it will not be superfluous to decipher those numbers that are indicated in the TIN certificate:

  • The first 2 numbers are the code of the subject of the Russian Federation.
  • The next 2 numbers are the code of the division of the Federal Tax Service.
  • From 5 to 10, the number is a specific and unique number of the counterparty in the division of the Federal Tax Service.
  • The last 2 numbers are check digits.

To determine the correctness of the TIN certificate, there is a certain mathematical algorithm that helps to determine these same checksums by performing certain calculations.

To calculate a 12-digit identification number for an individual, there is the following calculation algorithm:

  • The final checksum is calculated by multiplying the ten previous digits of the number by the following coefficients - 7, 2, 4, 10, 3, 5, 9, 4, 6, 8, 0.
  • Next, the check number (a) is calculated. To do this, the resulting sum is divided by 11, and the remainder of this division will be this control number.
  • If this control number (a) is less than 9, then it must be calculated as the remainder of dividing the control number (a) by 10.
  • Next, we calculate the second checksum, which is carried out by multiplying eleven numbers in the certificate by the following coefficients - 3, 7, 2, 4, 10, 3, 5, 9, 4, 6, 8, 0.
  • Then the check number (b) is calculated. To do this, the resulting sum is divided by 11, and the remainder of this division will be this control number.

If the resulting check number (b) is less than 9, then it must be calculated as the remainder of dividing the check number (b) by 10. Having learned both check numbers, you need to check them with the 11th and 12th numbers, respectively. If they match, then the TIN certificate is correct.

To check the 10-digit identification number assigned to legal entities, there is a slightly different algorithm of actions:

  • The checksum is calculated by multiplying the specified numerical values by the following coefficients - 2, 4, 10, 3, 5, 9, 4, 6, 8, 0.
  • The numbers multiplied by these coefficients add up. The resulting value will be the checksum.
  • The checksum is divided by 11, and the remainder of this division will be the control number.
  • If this control number is less than 9, then it must be calculated as the remainder of dividing the control number by 10.
  • The received control number is checked against the last number indicated in the TIN certificate. If a match is found, then such a document should be considered authentic.

TIN has not been verified

Example:

  • Let's take the first identification number found on the Internet: 526317984689 - 12 digits, which means that the TIN belongs to an individual (10-digit numbers are awarded to legal entities).
  • We multiply all numbers, except for the last two, by the digital coefficients indicated earlier - 5*7 + 2*2 + 6*4 + 3*10 + 1*3 + 7*5 + 9*9 + 8*4 + 4*6 + 6*8 = 316.
  • The resulting value is divided by 11: 316/11 = 28.7.
  • Next, multiply the integer part of this number by 11: 28*11 = 308.
  • Then from the sum of all multiplied numbers, equal to 316, we subtract 308: 316 - 308 = 8.
  • The resulting value will be the first control number (a).
  • Next, we multiply all numbers except the last one by the previously indicated coefficients - 5*3 + 2*7 + 6*2 + 3*4 + 1*10 + 7*3 + 9*5 + 8*9 + 4*4 +6*6 + 8 * 8 = 317. Divide the resulting value by 11: 317/11 = 28.8
  • Multiply the integer part of the resulting value by 11: 28*11 = 308.
  • Then subtract 308 from the sum obtained earlier: 317 - 308 = 9. This is the second control number - b. We compare two control numbers a and b with the last two digits in the identification number.
  • As we can see, they completely match, which means that the TIN is genuine.

It is important to carefully check the TIN itself, because the error in the checksum can even be in one digit when entered.

This very often happens with TINs issued for legal entities.. The documentation for any product also indicates the supplier's TIN, which may cause a discrepancy with the checksum check. In such cases, you need to contact the local branch of the Federal Tax Service for additional verification.

How else can I check the TIN?

To check the validity of the TIN of individual entrepreneurs, there are a number of services on the Internet:

  • Website of the Unified State Register Individual Entrepreneurs (EGRIP) - egrip.su//reestr_egrip.html;
  • Website of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities ( Unified State Register of Legal Entities) - www.egrul.ru/inn.html.

On these resources, you can get information of interest about the validity of a particular TIN certificate.

In addition, you can get the same information by visiting the local branch of the Federal Tax Service, where you can get an extract from the Unified State Register of Taxpayers.

In addition, there are several computer programs, guided by the determination of the validity of the TIN. After downloading it, in the TIN number field you just need to enter the data that you want to check. The program will automatically check the identification number for all registration databases and will issue a response to your request.

How can a stranger (another) person find out your TIN (check it for veracity and validity)?

To do this, any interested person can contact the local branch of the Federal Tax Service, where you can leave a request for such information, the so-called TIN tax audit. You just need to have the passport details of the person you are interested in with you.

After registration of the application and payment of the state fee, the information becomes available. By itself, the information about the identification number indicated in the TIN is not some kind of secret or closed.

Therefore, anyone can get it, which is completely justified, because knowledge of the TIN of other persons cannot be used for any selfish purposes. Obtaining a TIN has become mandatory for all citizens since 1999, when a corresponding decision was made. Since then, the process of tax identification of all legal entities and individuals has been significantly simplified.

How to check your own or someone else's TIN

Many simply do not remember their number, therefore, in a situation where they need it, they are forced to put off solving a problem and look for or even restore a certificate.

Third parties who often need the TIN of an outsider are accounting employees who submit reports.

Provide TIN when applying for a job, but when filling out documents, you need to know the employee's number.

Your own TIN

You can find out your TIN in several ways:

  1. Look in the certificate. If it is lost, you can restore the document at the tax office (the service costs 200 rubles for normal restoration and 400 if the document is needed the day after the application is submitted);
  2. Use the resource https://service.nalog.ru/inn.do on the website of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation. It allows you to send a tax request and find out your number almost instantly. The only difficulty is that the resource often works with errors and you will have to make a request several times to get information. Therefore, it is better to set the browser to autocomplete.

After specifying the passport data, the system will consider that you are requesting your identification number and will issue the required information.

Most users have no problems sending a request when sending a request. The only thing you should be very careful about is confidentiality.

The above link will lead directly to the online services page of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation, it is protected from personal data leakage. But if you send information through third-party resources without going to the tax website, your data may fall into the wrong hands. This should not be done, even if the form for sending the request exactly repeats the form of the Federal Tax Service.

Someone else's (not yours) TIN

This procedure should theoretically be more complicated:

  1. To get started on the same site you need to make a request. The request form is more complicated, it is necessary to indicate the type of applicant: a legal entity, an individual or a public authority. After that, the request window is transformed so that the user fills in his data (passport data of an individual or full data on legal entity or government agency and his manager) After processing the request, the system will answer whether the person has an identification number;
  2. If the taxpayer is registered in the system, d then you will have to visit the tax office in person. To obtain information about the number itself, you need to present an identity document, a document confirming the authority of the representative, and pay the state duty (100 rubles);
  3. Only after that You will find out the number you are interested in.

You can replace the first stage by contacting the tax office by mail (it is better to send a letter with a notification mark) or in person.

In the same way, a request is sent and a state fee is paid. But there are no restrictions on the circle of persons who have the right to find out someone else's TIN, just the desire, the availability of the necessary data and the payment of the state duty are enough.

In practice, having passport data in hand, accounting staff simply send a request on behalf of the employee or ask the employee to bring a certificate or provide a number.

There is no protection against obtaining by a third party who knows your passport data, your identification number. Although it is quite difficult to use the TIN for personal gain.

The taxpayer number is sometimes needed precisely when it is not possible to see it in the certificate.

In this case, having access to the Network and passport data, it is very easy to find out the TIN. Working with the service on the website of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation is not particularly difficult: you just need to fill in all the columns of the request and wait until the system processes it. The number of requests is not limited, and the provision of information for the taxpayer is free of charge.

Question-answer by TIN

  1. Tell me, if I have lost my tax registration certificate, will the tax office issue it again?

In case of loss of the tax registration certificate (TIN), you should contact the tax office at the place of registration, fill out an application for a duplicate and pay a fine, after which you will be given a duplicate TIN.
