Grace period on a credit card. Grace period on a credit card: how to calculate? What is the grace period for a Sberbank credit card

The Sberbank credit card issued to citizens of the Russian Federation for 50 days has a grace period, the terms of which consist of 30 days of the reporting period and 20 days of the payment period, respectively. Consider their basic principles and rules of use.

First of all, a credit card is very convenient, if necessary, money is always at hand, there is no need to borrow or postpone the purchase of necessary goods. And if you use it wisely, then it’s profitable: the grace period allows you to manage borrowed funds on a Sberbank credit card completely free of charge for a certain period of time.

The bank prepares loan offers for the participants of the salary project in advance and issues pre-issued credit cards as part of field events.

Also, in any branch, you can fill out an application for issuing a personalized credit card and receive it within 8 days. If funds are needed urgently, instant credit cards with a limited range of services are issued on the day of treatment.

The available credit limit is individual in each case, the financial institution sets it based on the client's monthly income. For users who pay their debts on time, the limit may be increased.

The grace period on a Sberbank credit card is 50 days; within this period, the use of funds is carried out without interest.

IMPORTANT! Interest-free use of bank money is possible only with non-cash payments. When withdrawing cash, a commission is charged, and interest on the loan is charged.

The rules for using credit cards say that if you do not fit into the grace period of 50 days or the grace period, as it is also called, interest is charged on borrowed funds. Further, the principle of operation is similar to a conventional loan, a payment schedule is drawn up to repay the debt in equal amounts.

Advantages

The advantages of Sberbank credit cards are as follows:

  • automatically revolving credit limit up to 600 thousand rubles;
  • free activation of the Mobile Banking service;
  • SMS-notification about all operations performed on the card;
  • special technology for protecting purchases, including in online stores;
  • grace period for 50 days;
  • obtaining one passport in 2 hours (only available for payroll clients);
  • the opportunity to participate in the bonus program "THANK YOU";
  • free annual service;
  • availability of special offers for citizens from 18 years old;
  • interest rates from 21.9% to 33.9%.

IMPORTANT! Interest rates depend on the type of card, in most credit cards they are fixed.

Flaws

Like any financial product, a credit card from Sberbank with a grace period of 50 days has its own "pitfalls":

  1. If you do not receive wages on a Sberbank card, you will need a copy of the work book and documents confirming income to apply for a credit card.
  2. It is not profitable to withdraw cash, the commission is 3% of the requested amount and cannot be less than 390 rubles.
  3. Many users do not understand how the grace period is calculated and how the fee for the use of borrowed funds is calculated.

How to calculate the interest-free period

The grace period is 50 days and conditionally consists of two stages:

  • reporting period, which is 30 days;
  • payment period, which is 20 days.

IMPORTANT! The starting date of the reporting period starts from the date of receipt of the credit card at the bank and its activation. The payment period is the next 20 days after the end of the reporting period.

If a credit card payment is made on the first day of the reporting period, you can use the funds without interest for 50 days, if on the last day, then 20 days. Expenses incurred on the first day of the billing period will be reflected in the next month's report.

Grace period calculation example. A Sberbank credit card and an envelope with a PIN code were received on March 9. The reporting period runs until April 8th. From April 8 to April 27 - the payment period. Thus, the grace period is from March 9 to April 27.

A payment made on March 9 can be repaid without additional costs within 50 days, on March 29 - within 30 days, and, for example,
April 5 - for 23 days.

IMPORTANT! The website of the Savings Bank of Russia has a calculator where you can calculate the dates of debt repayment online.

After generating the report, the bank sends SMS messages with notification of the total amount of debt, the minimum repayment amount and the payment date.

By repaying the entire specified amount, you will avoid paying interest. If it is not possible to pay, it is enough to make the minimum payment before the specified deadline, in which case fines and penalties will not be imposed. But the remaining funds will accrue interest.

IMPORTANT! The balance of the debt can be viewed using the Sberbank Online service, or by sending an SMS message to number 900 with the word "DEBT".

Even if the amount of the debt is not fully repaid, you can continue to pay with the card, while the grace period will operate according to the calculation, and the payments will fall into the next report.

Interest begins to accrue from the date following the expiration date of preferential use. In case of partial repayment, the fee for the use of the bank's funds is charged on the actually remaining amount.

You can pay off your credit card in the following ways:

  • deposit money through self-service devices similar to debit plastic;
  • transfer by bank transfer from your accounts using the Sberbank Online service or the Mobile Bank service.

Types of credit cards

Credit cards with a grace period offered by Sberbank are of several types, which customers choose to use:

  • gold cards;
  • Gift of Life and Aeroflot cards;
  • classic cards;
  • premium cards;
  • youth and instant issue cards.

Gold cards MasterCard and Visa Gold

For most debit salary card users, the Savings Bank issues Visa Gold cards with free annual service. The maximum amount of issuance is 600,000 rubles, the fee for use is fixed - 25.9% per annum. Age restrictions: 21-65 years old.

Plastic Visa Gold is issued for three years, and the conditions in force at the time of the contract do not change. One of the disadvantages of this type is that you cannot have several cards on a single account.

The advantages consist of the convenience of replenishing in cash and non-cash, the implementation of transactions through remote services, unimpeded use throughout the world within the payment system.

IMPORTANT! Gold MasterCard and Visa Gold cards are offered by the bank individually to each user.

Podari Zhizn Visa Gold and Aeroflot Visa Gold cards

Podari Zhizn Visa Gold was created jointly with the charitable foundation of the same name to help children with serious illnesses. Assistance is transferred to charity in the form of 50% of the bank's income from maintaining plastic and 0.3% of the total funds of card transactions.

Aeroflot Visa Gold allows you to earn miles and exchange them for tickets and airline bonuses.

Youth cards and instant issuance

Visa and MasterCard Momentum are not nominal, they are issued instantly, within half an hour after the registration of the application. The maximum amount of issuance is 120,000 rubles, the fee for use is 25.9%. One of the drawbacks is the problems with using it abroad.

IMPORTANT! Free annual maintenance is possible if the bank has issued an individual offer and approved the limit in advance.

Youth credit cards are issued with a limit of 200,000 rubles, a monthly service fee of 62.5 rubles and a user fee of 33.9%.

Own funds on a credit card

If the amount of funds on the credit card exceeds the limit, the difference is the client's own funds. When spent, they are written off first. No interest is charged on use.

IMPORTANT! When withdrawing cash, commission and interest are charged even on your own funds.

For any Russian, a situation may come when it is worth taking advantage of the benefits provided by the grace period on a credit card from Sberbank. The overview looks at how to extract them while avoiding additional costs.

In order to easily use interest-free loans provided by the bank for a certain time, it is worth understanding what such a period is and how it is calculated. Then it is possible to reasonably and purposefully attract Sberbank resources to solve urgent problems within the limits established for a certain type of credit card.

For these credit cards, the duration of use is determined by a segment of up to fifty days. According to an ingrained custom, this is perceived as the need to return the borrowed funds after the expiration of seven weeks. And the accrual of interest on the debt will begin after the fifty-day period ends.

Let us clarify that in reality the duration of the so-called interest-free or, otherwise, grace period is up to fifty days, and not exactly 50. Moreover, this time period has two stages:

  1. Reporting.
  2. Payment.

A video will help you to understand the main characteristics of the grace period more clearly and in more detail:

How can I determine the grace period for a Sberbank credit card

If you want to use lending services without interest, you should find out how to calculate the grace period on a Sberbank credit card so that there are no additional payments. According to the rules of use, during the reporting period, equal to thirty days, you can use the funds within the established limits. After a month has passed, the financial institution sends a report on the expenses spent by the client. Up to twenty days of the next stage are allotted for their repayment. At the payment stage, it is desirable to fully pay off all the overspending allowed so that the accrual of interest does not begin. Even a partial refund is allowed, the bank, as a rule, goes towards the client. But at least some funds must be returned in exchange for those spent within the interest-free period.

It is not necessary to wait until the end of 30 days to start returning funds temporarily borrowed from the bank. Although the desire to use the conveniences of such lending longer is quite understandable.

Having an idea about these features of the calculation of the grace period, you can successfully extract certain advantages for yourself. If you do not get carried away with expenses, then it is quite realistic not to face the obligation to pay interest.

Features of the calculation are presented in the video:

When does the action of the drug start

Consider how to find out what is the duration of the grace period on a Sberbank credit card, from what moment it begins to count. This will avoid misunderstandings in your calculations and the need to pay for them by paying a penalty. After all, the countdown is not at all from the time when the money from the provided limit was spent for any purpose. The starting point is the time when the Sberbank credit card was activated. If the event is not deposited in the memory, then you can clarify from what point the countdown for using the grace period begins with Sberbank employees.

Having learned the exact term, the owner of the credit card will be able to independently figure out how long he has the opportunity to resort to interest-free borrowing and when he will need to return the borrowed funds.

Credit cards from Sberbank with LP

Today, a considerable number of credit cards are issued by a financial institution in Russia, for which an option of an interest-free period that is pleasant for owners has been set. To clarify the types of Sberbank credit cards with a grace period of service, you should look at what offers are presented on its website. MasterCard credit cards are found here, among which:

  • Standard, provide both with the usual terms of use and special ones, as well as in the Youth version;
  • Gold. Conditions can be standard, special and offered for online card issuers;
  • momentum.

It is also possible to issue a classic Visa credit card. The duration of use for different credit cards, including the Golden Card, is the same.

What is the grace period for the Momentum card

The LP starts when the card is activated and is valid for a period of fifty days. A month after receipt, reports come. Further, the bank provides twenty days to repay the debt without paying interest.

What is the grace period for Mastercard

Also, as in the previous situation, the time of benefits for Mastercard is fifty days, the redemption rules are similar.

Grace period of the Visa Classic card

For this plastic, the interval is also fifty days: thirty - reporting and twenty days - payment.

Grace period for Gold Credit Card

The LP for the Gold Credit Card is also fifty days from the date of its activation. It only applies to non-cash payments. Loan repayment terms are similar to previous products.

We calculate the grace period for a Sberbank credit card on a calculator

To get a better idea of how the grace period is determined for any Sberbank credit card, let's take an example for calculation. The banking site provides the services of a special online calculator with which you can calculate exactly how to use the loan so that a penalty does not run up. To obtain data on how long the interest will not accrue on the debt and by what deadline it needs to be repaid, a number of data will need to be entered related to:

  1. the date of the report;
  2. the size of the interest rate;
  3. amounts and dates of spending.

The presence of the Sberbank online service allows customers to make calculations that affect all expenses during the grace period, eliminating the possibility of unpleasant errors.

The receipt by the client of a bank report on his spending, received, say, on 10/01/2018, serves as a signal of the beginning of a new stage. Its 30-day reporting period will last until 10/31/2018, since there are more than 30 days in October, after which the 20-day payment period will come. February will be the shortest in terms of use.

To make the most of the preferences provided by a Sberbank credit card, you just need to use online services. Thereby:

  • the owner is always aware of the balance;
  • receives SMS messages with information about the debt;
  • informed by the bank in what amount to make a monthly installment;
  • receives e-mail letters and reports on spending.

To prevent the occurrence of problems with the bank, it is better not to pay off debts at the last moment, since the passage of payments takes a certain time. Monthly repayment will help to avoid sanctions.

It is important that the effect of benefits does not stop even if debts have appeared. With the onset of a new reporting period, you can again resort to concessional lending.

What to do if you do not pay off the funds on time

Whatever the long grace period for a credit card from Sberbank, it will inevitably end. And the interest accrued on the debt has an unpleasant property to grow like a snowball. It is best to avoid delays, for which it is worth taking advantage of the indulgence allowed by Sberbank, monthly repaying the specified minimum amount. In this case, claims against the owner of the credit card will be postponed for some time, although they will still have to be satisfied. But the necessary delay will be obtained, and sometimes this is enough to pay off the accumulated debt within the next month.

The worst course of action is to choose a course of action that the problem does not seem to exist. By delaying the repayment of the debt, the client of Sberbank risks ruining relations with a powerful financial institution, which, sooner or later, will be able to collect debts. Therefore, it is better to borrow the required amount using other sources, but pay off the debt on time without worsening your credit history.

Credit cards, in addition to ease of use, attract customers with a grace period or interest-free period for using credit funds. It allows you to use the loan without paying interest. If you pay off the debt on the card before a certain date, then you can make the loan almost free.

From the moment the credit card is activated, the grace period for using the loan or "grace period" begins. It is from this date that the bank will calculate 50, 100 or 200 days of concessional lending. At the same time, banks determine two periods depending on the conditions on the card.

In this article:

Billing period

During its operation, you can make purchases and payments. It is usually equal to 30 days and can be counted:

  1. since the card was issued.
  2. From the 1st of every month.
  3. Since the activation of the credit card.
  4. From the day following the day the bank statement is generated.
  5. From the date of the first purchase with the card.

Payment (grace period)

This is the time to pay off the existing debt. For most cards, it is 20-30 days and starts immediately after the billing period.

In total, it turns out about 50-60 days, which is the grace period for a credit card.

Before the end of the interest-free period, the client needs to deposit the amount of money spent on the card, otherwise the bank will charge interest for their use. After its expiration, you will need to pay the minimum payment, which on average is 6-8% of the loan amount.

The grace period is not extended to all card transactions. In particular, transfers to debit card accounts, electronic wallets, cash withdrawals from ATMs cannot be included in the grace period. When making these transactions, interest will be accrued, and when withdrawing cash, an additional commission will be debited (usually at the expense of credit funds).

Grace Period Calculation Example

Let's calculate the interest-free period on a credit card using a specific example. The credit card has a settlement period of 31 days, which began to operate on March 1. For a month the client spent 15 thousand rubles. On April 1, the payment period began, and the bank generates a statement on transactions and payments made. Within 21 days (payment period), 15 thousand rubles must be deposited on the card in order to avoid interest on the loan. The result is a grace period of 52 days.

If since April 1 the client has spent, for example, 12 thousand rubles more, then by April 22 it will be necessary to pay 27 thousand rubles. (15 thousand in March and 12 thousand in April). Such calculations can differ dramatically depending on the bank and its lending policy.

List of credit cards with maximum grace period

The average grace period offered by most banks is 50-55 days. But there are a number of cards for which the term of concessional lending is from 60 to 200 days.

The table below shows credit cards with attractive grace period conditions.

Banks mainly offer maximum loan periods as a bonus to new customers and those who have not used their services before.

Banks are ready to offer a grace period of up to 55 days:

  • Renaissance Credit.
  • Binbank.
  • Tinkoff Bank.
  • Russian standard.
  • OTP bank.

The largest bank in the country - Sberbank - offers to issue credit cards with an interest-free period of up to 50 days.

The option of concessional lending plays an important role when choosing a card and a bank. However, a combination of a whole range of factors will be right, including the interest rate, the convenience of replenishing and repaying debt, bonus programs, additional services and an extensive network of ATMs. In combination with an extended grace period, a credit card will become an additional assistant to any budget.

Banks are doing their best to attract customers with interesting offers, including loan products. For example, one can note the great interest of potential borrowers in such a privilege as the grace period of a Sberbank credit card. What is its peculiarity, and under what conditions it is permissible to use it - detailed instructions are presented below.

A financial institution always issues loans for a certain period specified in the agreement between Sberbank and an individual. At the same time, other details are noted in the document: payment dates, interest rates, collateral (if any).

If we talk about credit cards from Sberbank, the duration of concessional lending is also indicated here. For all similar products of the company, this is a period of 50 days.

What does this concept imply? A grace period is a period of time when borrowers can use the funds in a credit card account without paying interest on it. That is, when returning funds within 50 days, the holder of the "plastic" will not have to fork out for additional payments: how much he received from the account - he returned so much.

Although Sberbank credit cards are in demand due to the interest-free period, disagreements often arise between customers and a commercial company (hence the unreasonable negative reviews). They happen more often because the first ones do not understand some significant terms and definitions and the main conditions of how to use a credit card.

Other important terms

The grace period of 50 days is the sum of the intervals of the reporting and payment periods. What they are, how and when they start and end - the answers to these questions are below (it is very important to understand the essence of these concepts in order to exclude possible problems with an interest-free return of borrowed funds in the future).

Reporting period

Otherwise, this interval can be called a "period for purchases." It starts from the moment the credit card is activated when it is transferred to the borrower at the Sberbank branch and lasts 30 days. For a month, the cardholder can pay for goods and services in a non-cash way. After this time, a report is generated on the payments made, the amount of which the bank client should pay in the next 20 days (unless, of course, he has no desire to continue to pay accrued interest).

At the same time, simultaneously with the payment period, a new report date for the Sberbank credit card is restarted. Again with a duration of 30 days. This process lasts as long as the credit card itself is valid.

Purchase date

As mentioned, the reporting (for purchases) period begins from the day the loan agreement is signed and the card is handed over to the client. It lasts 30 days from the date of receipt of the "plastic". At this time, the owner freely makes purchases and uses services, paying for them in a non-cash way.

Important! If the cardholder makes a purchase 15 days after receiving it; then the grace period will no longer be 50 days, but 50-15 = 35 days. Do not confuse the beginning of the reporting period with the date of purchase!

Pay period

Borrowed funds received on a preferential credit card of Sberbank can be returned in any of 50 days from the date of the first day of the reporting period. But it is still recommended to do this within the payment period. Indeed, by the beginning of his term, an SMS notification is sent to the client, where he can see all the necessary information:

  • the total amount of debt (the amount of all non-cash payments made during the reporting period);
  • due date;
  • the minimum payment amount to prevent delay (if you pay only it, the grace period will be reset to zero - interest will be charged on the rest of the loan). The option is ideal for those who do not currently have the opportunity to repay the debt in full - so at least the credit history will not deteriorate.

On a note! It is most convenient to make purchases on a credit card in the first days of the reporting period. Then there will be much more time for an interest-free repayment of the debt.

payment date

There are three ways to find out the last day of payment:

  1. View in the message received at the phone number indicated during the execution of the loan agreement, with the amount of the debt and the due date.
  2. Re-request the required information. To do this, send a message with the text "Debt" to number 900.
  3. Calculate the due date for payment. It will be required to add 50 days to the day of the beginning of the reporting period. For example, a credit card was issued on May 8, which means that the debt should be fully repaid before June 26. In this case, the last day for interest-free closing of the debt is June 26 until 23:59 local time (the time zone of the region in which the loan agreement was drawn up is taken into account).

Attention! The message indicates the date of payment with the preposition "to". This means that the payment must be made before the expiration of this date! For example, if it says "Make a paymentN rubles perVISA1234 by April 15th, payment must be made by midnight between April 15th (between April 15th and 16th). Otherwise, the grace period will be terminated.

Grace Period Calculation Example

To exclude the possibility of a delay in the grace period on a Sberbank credit card, an example of calculating its duration will allow.

On March 25, 2018, citizen Ivanov I.I. issued a card with a grace period at a branch of Sberbank. From this date begins the reporting period of 50 days. On March 30, Ivanov purchased a bicycle by paying by bank transfer with his credit card. This means that the citizen in question has 45 days to pay off the debt without interest. Or, in other words, the last payment date is May 13, 2018.

At the same time, on April 24, 2018, a new reporting period begins. It continues until May 23, 2018. It will be necessary to return debts for purchases made during this period by June 12, 2018. Such updating of the reporting period will take place monthly until the expiration of the loan agreement.

Thus, we can draw the main conclusions regarding the presented example of calculating the grace period of a credit card from Sberbank:

  1. The start date of the reporting period is the day the credit card is activated. The question arose of how to find out the beginning of the reporting period of a Sberbank credit card - just look in the contract.
  2. The amount of all payments made during the reporting period, for "plastic" - the amount of debt that must be repaid before the end of the payment period.
  3. The day of the beginning of the new reporting period is simultaneously the date of the beginning of the payment period for the previous reporting period. Only the payment period is shorter than the new reporting time by 10 days.

Knowing these basic rules will allow you to correctly calculate the grace period of a credit card and correctly use its capabilities.

What Sberbank credit cards have a grace period

Sberbank offers the possibility of interest-free lending on all of its credit cards. Namely:

  • Gold (for example, VISA Gold), classic and premium. They differ from each other in the cost of annual maintenance, the available limit, and the amount of interest rates. They can be executed on the basis of any payment systems cooperating with Sberbank: VISA, Maestro, MasterCard, Mir.
  • Joint products with Aeroflot - credit cards under the names "Aeroflot Classic Card", "Aeroflot Gold Card", "Aeroflot Signature Card". Have a privilege in the form of bonus miles for using money from the account. In addition to the above differences, the difference between the options also lies in the number of miles credited for every 60 rubles spent.
  • Classic and Gold Gift of Life cards. These products are aimed at providing charitable assistance to those in need: 0.3% of the funds spent on a credit card are sent to a special fund.

You should choose one or another version of the card based on your habits and hobbies. Indeed, for some, products with bonus miles will be the most profitable, for others - with other privileges. A built-in calculator on the company's website will allow you to calculate the amount of interest in case of non-compliance with the terms of the contract.

What payments are covered

Sometimes disagreements arise between a financial institution and its customers. It's all to blame: the latter are not fully or not at all familiar with how preferential lending works. According to its rules, Sberbank plastic card holders can apply for preferential loans only when certain transactions are made on a credit card. Specifically, payment:

  • Purchases in stores (including online).
  • Accounts for services (housing, mobile communications, Internet) and other government payments (fines, taxes).
  • Other services: for dinner in a restaurant, a haircut in a beauty salon, hotel booking.
  • Annual commission on a credit card.

If you follow the rules for using a Sberbank credit card and spend funds on the card only for the above operations, it is permissible to repay the resulting loan within 50 days without interest.

Operations that are not eligible

For a better explanation of the conditions of credit cards from Sberbank with a grace period, you should list the operations for which you should not qualify for an interest-free loan. They are:

  • Withdrawing cash from a credit card.
  • Payment of bills in casinos, sweepstakes, online games, when buying cryptocurrency, lottery tickets.
  • Transfers to electronic wallets, accounts of other financial companies.
  • Use of funds above the established limit.

If a transaction of the established type was made on a Sberbank card with preferential lending, you should no longer hope for a refund without paying interest. Regardless of whether all the money was returned during the payment period or not, you still have to fork out for the "reward" of Sberbank.

How to pay off a loan

After receiving a notice of the end of the previous reporting period and indicating here the amount of debt in the text of the message, you should pay attention to several points:

  • The payment term is the most important point. If you do not pay the specified amount by the specified date, there is a delay in payment. And this is a reason for charging penalties: as a result, the size of the debt is still increasing. Failure to pay even this amount threatens damage to the credit history, litigation.
  • The amount of the required payment. In order to prevent the problems indicated in the previous paragraph, at least this amount should be deposited. Its size is small, about 5% of the total debt. But when making only a mandatory payment, the effect of the grace period is out of the question.
  • Total debt - the amount owed by the client to Sberbank. When it is paid within the specified time frame, the owner of the credit card will be able to use borrowed funds without interest and commissions (however, we must not forget about operations that are not subject to benefits).

How is a refund made to a credit card account? This can be done in several ways:

  • Transfer from a salary card (one of the convenient ways: in the Sberbank Online service, through a mobile application, by sending a command to the bank service, using an ATM).
  • Cash replenishment through an ATM or at a branch of a financial institution.

Having multiple ways to repay debt makes things easier for clients.

If not met by the due date

For certain reasons and circumstances, the borrower may forget, be unable to pay the resulting credit card debt. Then there will be two outcomes:

  • The cardholder makes only the mandatory payment. Then he will have to pay interest on the loan (their amount depends on the type of card).
  • The owner of the credit account does not pay off the debt at all. In this case, after the end of the grace period, he will have to pay an additional penalty.

Important! The most profitable solution is to deposit funds to a credit card before the end of the payment period. So you won’t have to pay interest, and there will be much less problems.

A credit card with a grace period from Sberbank is an excellent offer for shopping and paying for services. The main condition for use is to return the borrowed money on time, that is, within 50 days from the start of the reporting period.

Sberbank of Russia, along with debit cards, offers to issue Sberbank credit cards. Among customers, the Sberbank credit card and its grace period of 50 days are very popular. The bank issues credit cards of different classes based on Visa and MasterCard payment systems. But there are many nuances that customers often do not know, so they do not use all the benefits that the grace period of a Sberbank credit card gives.

If we consider Sberbank credit cards with a grace period, then two stages can be distinguished here:

  1. Reporting– up to 30 days, during this period of time it is possible to use the limit, after which the bank will send a report on spending.
  2. Payment- lasts 20 days, during this period you can make partial or full repayment. The main thing is that at the end of the debt there is no credit card, otherwise interest will be charged.

In the case when the credit card holder has used the limit, the conditions for working with the card imply a mandatory monthly repayment. If the client has not gone beyond the grace period (LP), he can repay the full amount of the funds used, while no interest will be charged. Otherwise, once a month, you must make the minimum payment, which is provided by the bank. If the loan funds were used, but the borrower did not even make the minimum payment, then in this case there is a delay. In this case, the bank charges a penalty for non-payment of the debt.

Sberbank provides holders of its credit cards with the opportunity to spend for 30 days, while not charging interest. And after that, it provides up to 20 days to pay off the debt that has arisen. That is, the total time of the LP is 50 days.

Proper use of LP provides many benefits. You can borrow until payday or solve other financial problems. At the same time, without paying a penny to the bank. Many customers do not use loans as a matter of principle, but they are happy to issue a credit card to get additional opportunities free of charge.

Rules for using a Sberbank credit card during the grace period:

  1. It is recommended to connect online services to the credit card. This will allow you to constantly monitor the balance. When spending, you will receive an SMS notification about the amount and amount of the debt. The bank also sends a letter with information about the amount of the monthly fee. Internet banking will allow you to view statements 24/7/365 remotely.
  2. Sberbank sends a report on card transactions by e-mail. It also sends other important information regarding the use of a credit card, so you need to monitor letters.
  1. You need to extinguish it once a month so that there are no sanctions from the bank.
  2. The grace period of a Sberbank credit card for new expenses works, even if there are already overdue debts. But the opportunity to use without interest will be available only if the client repays the delay on previous payments.
  3. When depositing money, you need to take into account the time of their receipt. When using different repayment channels, the term for receiving funds on the card can be a day or more. This moment needs to be controlled, try to extinguish earlier and it is better to receive confirmation of receipt of funds from the bank.

How to calculate

The bank's website has the ability to calculate the grace period for a Sberbank credit card. A special online calculator is perfect for those who use a credit card for the first time or are not sure that its calculation is accurate.

The online calculator works like this:

  • the client must enter information about the date of the report, the amount of the interest rate, the amount and the date of purchase in the appropriate fields;
  • after pressing the "Calculate" button, the system will display information on the number of days of use without interest and indicate the deadline for repayment.

The cardholder can independently calculate the grace period on his Sberbank credit card. It is better to generate an extract, which will contain detailed information on each operation.

When calculating, you need to take into account the fact that after the formation of the report, the client is given up to 20 days to deposit funds. Therefore, the LP itself will be larger - this includes the length of time between spending and generating a report.

Calculation example

If we take as a basis the fact that the bank generates a report on the client's expenses on the 1st, then it is easy to calculate the LP - you need to add another twenty to the number of days left until the end of the month. In our particular case, the LP will be a full 50 days.

The grace period for Sberbank credit cards is a good example:

  • the client received a report on spending on 04/01/2017;
  • this date is the start of a new LP;
  • debt on transactions that were made for the period from 04/01/2017 to 04/30/2017 must be repaid no later than 05/21/2017.

That is, if you use the card on the last day of the month (04/30/2017), then the client will have only 20 days to redeem.

The duration of the grace period of 50 days is arbitrary, it may vary depending on the number of days in a month. Thus, the shortest period of interest-free use falls on February.

How to determine the start of the grace period

The new grace period starts the day after the date on which the previous spending report was generated. The number of LP days does not depend on whether the cardholder used money during this period or not, and decreases every day.

For the owner himself, the grace period of the Sberbank card begins from the day when the first money was debited from the card on credit.

The beginning of the grace period can be found in the personal account of the Internet bank or by calling the hotline of a credit organization. It is important to know the date when the first loan was made. The next day is the beginning of the interest-free period.

The LP ends on the day when you need to make a repayment, otherwise interest will be charged for using the money. Payment can be made any day between the date of purchase and payment. The bank in the summary that it provides to the client indicates the day of repayment, it can also be found using the Internet bank.

Sberbank reminds customers that the LP is coming to an end by sending a notification to the customer's phone. This minimizes the risk of delay.

High-end cards have more features than regular credit cards. This is a preferential premium card from Sberbank "Visa" or "MasterCard", its owners are provided with a wider range of services and more advantageous offers from the bank, including card servicing.

As for the grace period, premium service does not apply to it, that is, premium class cardholders use LP in the same mode as holders of other credit cards. For them, too, its duration is up to 50 days.

Can it be long-term

Sberbank provides standard conditions for an interest-free service period for all credit cards. It is impossible to change it. The bank will not extend it to one specific client or group of clients, since it is technically impossible to do so and not economically profitable.

If the borrower fails to repay the debt on the card by the end of the LP, he can use the following recommendations to prevent the occurrence of overdue debt:

  • pay the minimum monthly payment, but at the same time, in the next LP, he will also need to pay off the accrued interest for using the credit limit;
  • borrow money from friends or from another bank and pay off the debt using a Sberbank card.

The latter option is more likely not a recommendation, but a practice. But before you do so, you need to analyze the feasibility of such a step, as this can lead to additional costs. Moreover, it is difficult to get a new loan, and the emergence of new obligations is accompanied by the need to spend additional time repaying another loan, calculating the payment amount, visiting a creditor bank, etc. Therefore, before going to extremes, it is better to think several times.

At the time of receiving a credit card, before signing the agreement, the client needs to study the terms of credit, the rules on how to use the product, ask the bank manager in detail about the LP, the monthly payment, and study the nuances. You need to clearly understand when the grace period starts and ends, whether there are additional commissions, how to calculate the grace period, etc.

It must also be remembered that in addition to the expenses initiated by the client himself, there are others that should not be forgotten:

  • card maintenance fee (usually charged once a year);
  • payment for the use of paid services;
  • insurance payments.

All these payments are deducted from the card, including at the expense of the credit limit. As a result, debt may arise, and if it is not repaid on time, interest will accrue.

LP is a handy tool that can be used by anyone with an SB loan. It allows you to save on interest - you can borrow from the bank, while interest will not be charged, provided that the money is returned in full on time. The main thing is to take into account all the nuances, since an error in the calculations can lead to interest or even delay.
